Tom Dolan in first place after the first Leg of the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec

Ireland’s Tom Dolan won the first leg of the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec from Caen in Normandy to Kinsale on his Figaro 3 “Smurfit Kappa Kingspan”.

Tom is one of Ireland’s most experienced professional offshore sailors and is competing in 54 edition of the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec. This race takes place from 27 August until 17 September. It is a single-handed race on the Beneteau Figaro 3 one design and comprises of 3 legs over 3 consecutive weeks.  Each leg lasts about 4 days, and the total distance is circa 1850 nautical miles. It is considered the most demanding single-handed race in the world.

Tom is currently doing leg 2 of Solitaire du Figaro Paprec from Kinsale to Roscoff; the leaders are expected to finish this Thursday 7 September in Roscoff. You can track Tom live by using this tracker.
