RIYC WELCOMES ILEN BACK TO THE CLUB

15/07/2021

We welcome the Ilen back to the Club. She will be moored alongside for the coming days, and Members are welcome to go aboard and take a look at this superbly restored vessel.

Designed by Limerick man Conor O’Brien and built in Baltimore in 1926, she was delivered by Munster men to the Falkland Islands where she served valiantly for seventy years, enduring and enjoying the Roaring Forties, the Furious Fifties, and Screaming Sixties.

The Ilen is currently in Dublin as part of the 'Sailing into Wellness' program, a not for profit orgaisation who have a vision of a healthy natural solution for our communities to look after their physical and mental well-being by using the the sea to inspire change.
