NYC Appeal for old sails for stretchers in Ukraine

Ukraine's Kyiv City Cruising Yacht Club https://yacht-club.kyiv.ua/ is recutting old sails into compact, durable, lightweight, water-resistant stretchers which are, unfortunately, in high demand across the country. To make these, the club is seeking old sails or sail material from manmade fibres such as polyester, dacron, mylar, kevlar, spectra, and dyneema, and in weights of around 200g/m² or more (ie, sails from boats of around 20 feet or longer in length, not including lightweight spinnakers). The Kyiv club is also seeking lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre spars such as old spinnaker poles, masts and booms.

In support of this effort, the National Yacht Club and other Irish sailing clubs are appealing for donations from members.
