The Royal Irish Junior Regatta was held on Wednesday the 12th July with fleets both inside and outside the harbour. With little breeze but glorious sunshine both fleets postponed their start time with the hope of a sea breeze. Thankfully by 12.30pm the expected sea breeze filled in and racing started.

With the less experienced sailors racing in the harbour a short course was set with 3 races completed for the Optimist and PY fleets. The more experienced sailors were set a longer course outside the harbour with 2 races completed. Over 130 sailors took part with competitors from as far away as Howth.

There were some notable performances from the Royal Irish Juniors 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Harbour Optimist fleet, 2nd in the Bay Laser 4.7 fleet, and 3rd in the PY fleet. Apres sail, it was back to the Deck for a barbeque and entertainment.

Well done to everyone that took part and a special thank you to the Race Officer Henry Leonard, Gilly Goodbody and Susan O'Gallagher for all the help organising the event and all the parents that volunteered in the lead up to the event and on the day.
